Meet the Concrete Engineers, Material Scientists & Technology Specialists Who Build & Maintain MixDesignCalc โ Dedicated to Standards-Based, Engineer-Grade Concrete Mix Design
MixDesignCalc was founded in 2022 by a group of structural and concrete engineers frustrated by the gap between what IS 10262:2019 mandates and what most "concrete calculators" actually deliver. Too many tools produce numbers without showing their work, without referencing the standard clauses they claim to implement, and without any honest statement of their limitations. We built something different.
Our mission is simple: make rigorous, standards-based concrete mix design accessible to every engineer in India and beyond โ whether they are a principal structural engineer at a major infrastructure firm or a fresh graduate working their first RMC plant posting. Every calculation we publish is traceable to a specific IS, ASTM, or EN clause. Every limitation we know about is documented. Every update to our data is logged with the date and standard reference that prompted it.
"A concrete calculator that does not show which clause it is implementing is not a concrete calculator โ it is a black box dressed up as one. Every number we produce must be traceable. Every limitation we have must be disclosed. The engineer using this tool carries professional responsibility for the structures built with its outputs โ we owe them complete transparency about how our calculations work and where they stop being valid."
โ Dr. Ananya Krishnan, Co-founder & Lead Concrete Technologist
Our core team combines deep concrete technology expertise with real-world site and laboratory experience. Every team member has hands-on experience with IS 10262 mix design, trial mix programmes, and structural concrete quality control โ not just theoretical knowledge.

B.E. Civil Engineering with 13 years of site experience spanning high-rise residential, commercial, and industrial projects across Maharashtra and Rajasthan. Managed QC at two major RMC plants and led trial mix programmes for M25โM60 concrete for multi-storey projects. Authored MixDesignCalc's QC Limits Reference Chart, non-conformance protocols, and pre-pour checklist content based on real site experience.
PhD in Sustainable Construction Materials from NIT Trichy with research focus on high-volume SCM concrete and geopolymer binders. 9 years of combined research and industry experience. Has consulted on GRIHA and LEED-certified projects requiring low-carbon concrete specifications in Delhi NCR. Responsible for SCM comparison tables, cost vs carbon analysis, and the sustainable materials content across MixDesignCalc reference pages. Leads MixDesignCalc's planned carbon footprint integration module.
MSc Structural Engineering from University College London (UCL) with 8 years of experience in UK and European infrastructure projects including rail, highway bridges, and marine structures. Managed concrete specification and QC for the HS2 preliminary works package. Responsible for all EN 206 content in MixDesignCalc, the UK National Annex compliance data, and support for European users. Based at MixDesignCalc's London office.
M.Tech Civil (IIT Delhi) with 11 years of experience on major GCC construction projects including high-rise towers, airport infrastructure, and utility projects across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Doha. Specialises in hot weather concreting (45ยฐC+ ambient), ACI 305R implementation, and ACI 211.1 mix design for regional materials (high-absorption limestone aggregates, desalinated water, seawater proximity). Manages MixDesignCalc's Dubai office and Middle East user support.
M.Tech Structural Engineering from Anna University with 10 years of experience in reinforced and prestressed concrete design for Chennai Metro and Tamil Nadu state highway projects. Has led specification development for BFRP rebar trials in marine jetty construction (2024โ2026). Authored MixDesignCalc's reinforcement comparison tables, corrosion inhibitor dosage sections, and FRP rebar guidance content.
B.E. Computer Science (PESIT Bengaluru) with an MBA and 8 years in EdTech and engineering SaaS product management. Joined MixDesignCalc in 2023 to lead platform development, user experience, and the interactive tools suite. Designed the MixDesignCalc calculator interface, Materials Database, and the full reference page series. Ensures all technical content is accessible, accurate, and aligned with the calculations team's methodology requirements.
Beyond the core technical team, MixDesignCalc is supported by a wider group of engineers, researchers, and specialists who contribute regional expertise, user support, content review, and standards monitoring.
MixDesignCalc's Technical Advisory Board comprises senior professors, industry fellows, and retired standards committee members who review our methodology, validate our calculations against current standards, and advise on emerging areas including sustainable concrete, UHPC, and digital construction. Advisory board members are independent and do not represent the views of their institutions.
Every number we output is traceable to a specific IS, ASTM, or EN clause. We never use undisclosed algorithms or proprietary black-box calculations. If we can't show our working, we don't publish the number. Engineers must be able to verify every output independently.
Our methodology is fully documented โ including every assumption we make and every limitation we know about. When our calculations are less accurate (such as slump prediction), we say so explicitly and quantify the expected deviation. We will never oversell what a calculation tool can do.
When IS 456 and economic pressure point in opposite directions, IS 456 wins โ always. We built the IS 456 compliance checker to make it impossible to inadvertently under-specify concrete for an exposure class. Structural safety is not a feature; it is the non-negotiable foundation of everything we build.
We actively promote SCM substitution, optimised grade selection, and life-cycle cost thinking because they simultaneously reduce cost and carbon. Every reference page includes sustainability data alongside strength and cost data. The optimal concrete in 2026 is lower-carbon โ and usually also cheaper over its service life.
We are committed to making rigorous concrete technology accessible to every engineer โ from IIT professors to first-year graduate engineers on their first RMC posting. Every formula we show, every limitation we document, every clause we reference is an educational moment for the next generation of concrete technologists.
When a user finds a discrepancy between our output and a standard, we review it within 24 hours, correct it if confirmed, and credit the reporter in our update log. Our accuracy improves because thousands of engineers scrutinise our calculations every day. We actively want to be corrected when we're wrong.
MixDesignCalc collaborates with leading academic institutions, standards bodies, and industry organisations to maintain accuracy, stay current with standards revisions, and contribute to the development of the concrete technology community in India and beyond.
Do you work at an IIT, NIT, CSIR lab, or private concrete research facility? We welcome validated material property data, trial mix results, and peer-reviewed research that can improve MixDesignCalc's accuracy. Data contributors are credited in our Materials Database and reference pages. Contact data@mixdesigncalc.com to discuss a data partnership.
